Speaking Body: Wall consists of sound-absorbing panels printed with different translations of the famous sentence “I would prefer not to” from the novel Bartleby, the Scrivener accompanied by squares of different sizes marked with Xs. The panel physically intervenes and divides the exhibition space and functions like a screen, allowing light and sound to penetrate. The piece invites viewers to imagine the moments of refusal and to speak them aloud, proposing a conceptual shift that challenges the presupposed value and prescribed attitude given to productivity.
