Speaking Body delivers the stories of individuals who are trying to work less and question the productivist tendencies in life. The three participants are intersectional in that they are women, cultural workers, and temporary or part-time employees. They answer approximately 30 questions about their current work experience, their attitudes toward work, their attempts to work less, refusal to work, the relationship between work (productivity) and home (reproductivity), and their ideals and demands. "What are you refusing?" is a key question asked twice, once in relation to production at work, and again in relation to women's reproductive labor. Their words appear on teleprompters positioned outside the stage. The screens display the text at the speed of the interviewee’s speech, as if it were a script for an audience on the stage. This establishes a relationship between the interviewee and the audience, as not only speaker and listener, but also involved parties and their representatives.
