Attention Exercise: The World of Work II

2024
Six digital prints, each 59.1x42cm

Attention Exercise: The World of Work II is a diagrammatic map that traces the eye movements of meal kit workers during their work activities, as recorded in Attention Exercise: Our Collective Eyes II. Each point of gaze is accompanied by the words describing the world of work and labor organized into three categories: “work accident,” “work emotion,” and “work value.” The piece captures the three-second gaze constellations that reflect repetitive patterns of micro-work, mapping, articulating, and conceptualizing the current organization of the world of work and labor that directs our attention.
